Well, low and behold, hoo woulda thunk it, but one day Ellen went to pick it up and a pair of little chickadees were raising a family of 4 little tiny chirping babies under it!
I have not been patient enough to get a picture of mama and poppa going to and fro, but if you look REAL close, you can see part of the straw and duff they collected to make the nest poking out underneath:
